Dundalk Elementary School

Dundalk Elementary School is receiving a new building just in time for the 2019-2020 school year. The new school building is part of a county-wide initiative to replace schools without air conditioning in Baltimore County. As part of the new school construction and its efforts, there is a stronger focus on using energy efficient utilities. Some of the new earth-friendly innovations included in Dundalk Elementary School are an energy-conserving geothermal heat pump system & low water-use plumbing. The new and improved Dundalk Elementary School will welcome over 700 students to their brand new atmosphere come September.
The Leonard Kraus Co. installed several different specialty items for Dundalk Elementary School. Acoustical sound panels including Tectum and Kinetics were installed around the school’s gymnasium, cafeteria, and library. Acoustical cloud ceilings with Compasso slim perimeter trim were placed all around the new building to provide a 21st century appeal to the architecture. Other aspects of the school that the Leonard Kraus Co. was a part of included installing Fry Reglet reveal bead trim and specialty ceiling tiles, as well as bulkhead framing. The most aesthetic detail of the school was the enclosed clerestory, which was created through installation of light gauge metal trusses. Framed and finished by the Leonard Kraus Co., this color-changing lighted clerestory is a unique structure that fits the modern look of the elementary school.
